During the class you will be exposed to the safe and fun operation of firearms and Utah law regarding concealed firearms.
We will be providing each pre-registered student with a Utah Concealed Firearms Permit application packet. We will fill out the packets as a group at the end of class.
Your class will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until about 4:00 PM.
At 10:30 AM we will open the classroom doors, check you in, and issue your name badge. A class packet will be waiting for you at your seat.
We will take short breaks, of approximately 10 minutes, throughout the day, for you to relax, give you additional time to ask additional questions, whether or not related to the subjects under instruction.
Please bring a sack lunch with you for the day of class. We will be eating during the class. The 5 hour class day has 4 hours of lecture and video content, so we will not have enough time for an off-site lunch break. Water bottles will be provided by Bayprofs.
This class is held in the community room of the Redwood City library location in Redwood Shores. There is free on-site parking, restrooms, and a coffee shop in the library that may be open the day of the class.
Please do not bring any firearms or ammunition to the class per the policies of our venue.
STATEMENT OF ELIGIBILITY
In the Bayprofs Utah Concealed Firearms Permit Course you will be learning the required laws regardin concealed carry of firearms as defined by the Utah BCI’s training cirriculum. Both State and Federal law make it unlawful for certain persons to own and/or possess (including handle) any firearm. These restrictions are many and constantly changing. BayProfs, Inc. is not a law firm. We cannot advise you as to your specific eligibility to handle the firearms in our classes. In addition, the law frequently changes and we don’t have a legal staff to follow those changes in a timely manner.
Therefore, we direct you to http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/firearms/forms/prohibcatmisd.pdf for a list of prohibiting circumstances. In addition, aliens admitted to the US under a non- immigrant visa are generally prohibited from possessing or purchasing a firearm.
However, there are exceptions. The exceptions are found in 18 USC Section 922(y)(2). Go to http://uscode.house.gov/uscode-cgi/fastweb.exe?getdoc+uscview+t17t20+540+1++%2818%20USC %20Section%20922%28y%29%282%29%29 Provisions Relating to Aliens Admitted Under Nonimmigrant Visas about halfway down the page.
If you have any doubt about your eligibility to handle firearms after reading the materials above, you may want to download and submit the Personal Firearms Eligibility Check Application to the Cal DOJ to determine your eligibility. The form is found here: http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/pdfs/firearms/forms/pfecapp.pdf. This is a request to conduct the same background check you would undergo if you attempt to buy a gun. The Ca DOJ will return the form to you with a nay or yea.
